The impact of South Africa’s bleak economic situation comes through loud and clear in the 2019 Clearing and Forwarding Industry salary survey undertaken by PE Corporate Services (PECS). “Salary increases were still above the average inflation rate, but lower compared to the general staffing survey covering all other industries,” according to Marius Kruger, PECS remuneration research manager. Initially established by Lee Botti & Associates in 1981, the salary survey was incorporated into the PECS fold in 2004. “As specialists in salary surveys across SA, PECS administers a variety of surveys across all levels and industries. This survey continues to be a valued tool in a specialist area and is published every second year,” says Kim Botti of Lee Botti & Associates. Botti visited a number of participating companies with Kruger, providing feedback on the results of the August 2019 survey. It provides valuable information for participating companies who use the info to determine how to benchmark and structure salaries while also planning for their businesses in the year ahead,” says Kruger.
