SOUTH AFRICA'S first Import Week, coupled with the SA Investment and Development Expo, is to be held at Gallagher Estate, Midrand between September 25-29. These events will be run in parallel with the annual South African International Trade Exhibition (Saitex) at the same venue.
Making the announcement last week, Saitex director Johan Theron said that
the country's industries and its export
sector continued to rely to a great extent
on imported machinery, materials, equipment and technology, and for that reason
it had been decided to set up a showplace for overseas companies exporting to
South Africa to display their wares and facilities.
The Import Week will also take on a regional flavour, with foreign exhibitors
separated into Asian, European, Afro-Arab and Latin American pavilions.
The aim of the Week is to showcase to South Africa and other importers among our neighbours, traders, buyers and producers, a wide range of quality services and know-how from abroad all under one roof.
