NICK NICHOLLS, Safmarine's internal audit executive, was last year awarded the Certificate of Achievement as the best South African candidate for his Liner Trades examination in the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) exams.
The ICS conducts professional examinations each year in April on a world-wide basis. South Africa is becoming one of the more important overseas centres due to the growing number of candidates writing.
Last year 49 South African students wrote the examinations. Six successfully completed all the membership examinations and are now up for election as members of the institute by the controlling council in London.
Many companies in South Africa and elsewhere in the world are making the qualification compulsory for those wishing to climb the corporate ladder.
