FROM AUGUST 1 Safmarine Container Lines will be represented in the Far East by an owned agency network bringing to an end agency relationships spanning decades.
The new Far East agents will be Safmarine Korea (Korea); Saigon Shipping Services (Vietnam); Shanghai Tie Yang Multi Modal Company (TMT) (China); Constar Holdings Company (Taiwan); Safmarine Hong Kong; Bangkok Marine Company (Thailand); Pt Bintang Kartika Makmur (Indonesia); Mercantile Ocean Maritime Company (Philippines); MCC Transport Singapore; Sea - Land Service (M) Sdn Bhd (Malaysia); and Maersk Lanka (Sri Lanka).
Safmarine will continue to represent the line in Southern Africa.
Grant Daly, who previously held a senior position with Safmarine in Cape Town, has been appointed Far East regional executive. He will relocate to Singapore on July 1 .
Wilson Liu, who has been based in Safmarine's Singapore office for a number of years, has been appointed Far East regional office commercial manager and will remain in Singapore.
George Slade, now based in Cape Town, retains his position as Far East trade executive. Slade was previously head of Safmarine's regional office in Singapore.
Whilst our former network
of agents served Safmarine extremely well, it is group policy to manage our customer interface in-house wherever possible, Slade told FTW.
