Safmarine helps give wheels to the needy

IT'S BEEN a partnership effort by a range of companies including Safmarine that has given wheels to a number of orphans in SOS children's villages around South Africa. Volunteers at Ford Motor Company's Hiroshima operations in Japan have spent the past few months selecting abandoned cycles and preparing them for shipment to South Africa aboard Safmarine vessels. Over 150 bicycles have already been donated to five SOS villages, and once their needs have been met, the team will canvas other needy recipients. The A-Ford-Able Bikes project is one of several community projects in which the motor giant is involved.
