Safari finalises port rotation

MEMBER LINES of the Safari Vessel Sharing Agreement have finalised the port rotation of the named-day weekly service from April as follows: Yokohama, Kobe, Busan, Keelung, Hong Kong, Laem Chabang, Singapore, Port Kelang, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Cape Town, Durban, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Keelung, Yokohama.
Referring to the inclusion of Laem Chabang, Maersk South Africa managing director Peter Ehrenreich commented: Laem Chabang is the fastest growing industrial area in Thailand.
We have offices in Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Chiangmai and Songkhla as well as our own terminal in Laem Chabang, which ensures total control of cargo.
Cargo for Japanese ports no longer served directly will be transhipped over Singapore, Hong Kong and Busan.
Nine vessels of average 1900 teu capacity will be deployed in the service whose members include Safmarine, Maersk Sealand, MOL, K-Line and MISC
P&O Nedlloyd, which has withdrawn from the consortium to go it alone, has yet to reveal details of its new service.
