Sacu and EAC share best practices

The South African Customs Union (Sacu) and the East African Communities (EAC) concluded a two-day meeting at the end of March where they explored the option of benchmarking similar activities, learning best practices and sharing ideas. Speaking during the opening of the meeting, EAC deputy secretary general in charge of finance and administration, Jean Claude Nsengiyumva, noted that for the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to be strong they needed to share best practices which would lead to development of not only the RECs, but Africa at large. Competition Policy, trade in services and revenue mobilisation are some of the issues that will be benchmarked.
