SAA set to release reports on financial losses

The South African Airways (SAA) board of directors has announced that the company will inform the public of the outcomes and necessary actions to be taken once investigations into the financial losses incurred by the airline have been completed.

In a statement released yesterday (Monday) the company noted that it would not cover up any “acts of impropriety” at the airline.

This follows allegations in the media based on internal reports of SAA regarding accusations of criminality and mismanagement at senior levels of the company.

The internal reports, leaked to the media, are currently being finalised and will subsequently be presented to the board for consideration, according to SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali.

“We caution against making conclusions hastily and discourage casting aspersions against any individuals on the strength of incomplete reports,” he added.

The reports are said to be focused on procurement and asset management.
