SOUTH AFRICAN Airways has hinted at a change of status in its agreement with Air Tanzania. According to internet news service TNN, SAA is in discussions with the Ministry of Public Enterprises with a view to dissolving its 49% stake in Air Tanzania, which it bought in 2002. According to a report in the East African, Air Tanzania is experiencing financial problems and is currently unable to meet capacity demands on several of its routes, including Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and Johannesburg.
