THE SOUTH African
Airways Bill, which converts
the national airline into
a public company, was
approved by the second
chamber of parliament,
the National Council
of Provinces, last week,
according to I-Net Bridge.
The SAA Bill – which
has already been accepted
by the National Assembly
– moves SAA from
Transnet’s balance sheet to
the department of public
enterprises.
The legislation allows
for the conversion of SAA
from a private to a public
company
The bill can now go to
president Thabo Mbeki for
signature.
