SOUTH AFRICAN Airways Cargo and its Irish GSSA IAM helped to bring a taste of South Africa to Ireland when they transported 40 pieces of artwork free of charge, for a fund-raising exhibition in Dublin. The exhibition - being staged by the South African Embassy in Dublin as part of the 10th anniversary of South Africa’s democracy - features the works of leading contemporary South African artists, Willie Bester and Abraham le Roux. The exhibition will raise money for AIDS charities in South Africa. The works of art - paintings and sculptures valued at EUR 70 000, weighing some 350kg - were flown to London Heathrow on a scheduled SAA 747, and then transported by IAM truck to their final destination, the Blue Leaf Gallery in Dublin.
