AIREPS HAS opened a new service for Air Canada, designed to capture a major share of the market from South Africa.
Thanks to a special pro rate agreement with South African Airways, Aireps can now book freight from this country to London on SAA flights and arrange transhipment to Air Canada, which has 16 flights a day from London to Canada.
According to Aireps' Simon Lavarack, Air Canada controls 70% of the market from the UK to Canada, a considerable market share. Our aim is to control, with SAA, 70% of the Canadian market from SA, Lavarack told FTW.
We have in our offices Air Canada's Totem cargo computer system which allows us to book, track and trace on the entire network operated by the airline.
SAA will shortly be selling Canada using its own flights with onward connections out of London on Air Canada flights, and we are looking to a strong representation in cargo bookings from South Africa in that movement.
Air Canada recently purchased its major opposition, Canadian International Airlines.
Aireps, which operates from Johannesburg and Cape Town, recently appointed Fanie van Rooyen as national sales manager in Johannesburg. He comes on board after serving 28 years with SAA.
