THE INSTITUTE of Chartered Shipbrokers will welcome nine new members into its fold following the release of exam results earlier this month. Of the 49 candidates who attempted the qualifying exams in the southern African region, nine have now completed their final subjects and will be eligible for membership. Of the remaining 40 candidates, 30 passed some or all of the subjects that they sat while three students obtained distinctions. The intermediate qualification, the Foundation Diploma, was attempted by 26 students of whom 14 passed. The ICS prize-giving will be held on September 1 in Durban and students who obtained the highest marks in various subjects will be awarded prizes sponsored by companies associated with the shipping industry.
