TWO MEMBERS of the Federal Express Leadership Institute in the United States were recently in South Africa to present and test a new one-week management education programme.
Marco Chan, managing director and management perceptor, and adviser Dr Geneva Reid, introduced an advanced course for Global Service Participants (GSPs), who are independent companies around the world who provide Fedex with express package distribution under licence.
These programmes are the equivalent of the internal education programmes offered to full-time Fedex management. The function is to treat GSP management as if they were Fedex staff in the interests of consistency at all Fedex stations.
This translates into continuous education for management to keep them abreast of the latest techniques, says Chan. In response to requests from our GSPs we are now making education more widely available to their managements.
Members of the Leadership Institute have conducted assignments in numerous countries outside of the US, but South Africa has been chosen to live-test this new generation programme because the company is highly regarded throughout the Fedex global network, says Chan.
