South Africa’s entrant
in the Fiata – Young
International Freight
Forwarder of 2010, Rion
Henning of UTi, was
pipped at the post by this
year’s winner, Philip Kuffer
of Germany.
This is the third time a
South African has reached
the quarter finals of the
event which is being held
this year in Bangkok,
Thailand.
Henning was the winner
of the Africa/Middle East
title, and competed against
three regional finalists from
Canada, Singapore and
Germany.
The prize was practical
and academic training –
which includes a week
based at one the TT Club’s
regional centres in London,
Hong Kong or New Jersey;
attendance at the “Insight
into Transport Law and
Insurance” course in
London; and a week-long
course at a Fiata training
centre.
The Saaff-YFFA 2011
competition kicked off
recently with 15 entrants.
“This is triple the number
for the 2010 competition
which is very encouraging,”
Saaff’s Margy Pedder told
FTW.
