South African companies should be doing more to take advantage of the additional capacity that is available to transport goods into the rest of Africa, says Hilton Tait, chief executive officer of FT Global Logistics. While the logistics sector is investing in the continent to support trade, the challenge is getting South Africans to go and market their products in Africa, says Tait. “All too often we see South Africans waiting for buyers to come and place orders. “Hopefully the exporters will spend money and invest resources in trying to develop or re-develop these markets north of the Limpopo.” South African companies should be doing more.
