SA companies invest in Accra mall

Local property developers are following South African retail chains into West Africa. Property developer Atterbury and financial services group Sanlam have acquired an 85% holding in the Accra Mall in Ghana, where the anchor tenants are Shoprite and Game. Accra Mall is Ghana’s first A-grade shopping and leisure mall. The mall opened its doors fully let in July 2008 and currently attracts 135 000 shoppers each week, according to mall developer Actis.
