‘Roadfreight customers demand one-stop service’

KEVIN MAYHEW ROAD FREIGHT clients are demanding more services under one roof to speed up the processes for cross-border transport. The managing director of Durban-based Image Freight and Logistics, Anthony Sivalingam, says it has responded to the demand by introducing transport, forwarding and now bonded and free warehousing to its services. Image recently opened a 1200 m2 warehouse in Sea View which complements its cross border customs clearing and forwarding services through another company subsidiary, Shilo Freight and Logistics. “There is a trend towards dealing with one service provider,” he said. To this end, Shilo Freight & Logistics offers a Customs road bond facility, customs clearing, storage at our own warehouse and the transportation through Image Freight & Logistics,” he added. It has partnership arrangements with transporters in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia, effectively giving the company access to over 150 flatbed rigs at any given time. Another more recent development was a local transport operation - a harbour carrier covering a 50 to 100 kilometre radius for container delivery and collection.
