“At present maintenance is being executed in the form of routine road maintenance on the N2, which covers the general maintenance issues such as localised repair to the road surface, cleaning and grass cutting,” says Fred van Aardt, technical manager for the southern region of SANRAL. The agency is also currently embarking on a province wide road sign replacement contract, which according to van Aardt will improve driving conditions and safety for road users. The N2 route assists intercity traffic in the Nelson Mandela Bay and is also an important link between business and residential areas.
