The Road Freight Association (RFA) has assembled an auspicious speaker line-up to address attendees at this year’s event to be held in Ballito on June 11.

As with previous RFA conferences, the programme represents a who’s who of industry, including a much-needed update from the Department of Transport (DoT).

Whether it will be the minister himself, Fikile Mbalula, or one of his deputies, is not certain, but it will offer hauliers a rare opportunity to hear from the DoT.

Also from the public sector is a presentation by the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) titled, “Licensing: Extending the validity period for licences and linking PRDP to licences”.

The RTMC presentation, following directly after the DoT update, will be followed by a panel discussion on “Sustainable alternatives for fossil fuel”.

This conversation about a futuristic necessity will be led by Liesl De Wet, Unitrans HoD of accelerated organisational sustainability; Kevin Baart, strategic projects executive from the SA Petroleum Industry Association; Lethabo Manamela, the CEO of the SA National Energy Development Institute; and Michael Dietz, Daimler Trucks and Buses SA CEO.

A yet-to-be-confirmed representative from Iveco will participate in what is likely to be an insightful window into what the road freight industry can expect from the future of fuel.

In addition to the RFA’s own CEO, Gavin Kelly, and the association’s chair, Penwell Lunga, a solid set of speakers from private sector concerns will be there to spotlight issues ranging from politics to economics and the energy sector.

The event will be held at the Zimbali Hotel.
