Regional trade blockages to be addressed

As part of government’s
‘New Economic Growth
path’, with its strong focus
on logistics, South Africa
will undertake initiatives
to strengthen the SADC
and connect it with the East
African Community and
Comesa, says Economic
Development minister
Ebrahim Patel.
“We will identify key
regulatory blockages to
increased regional trade and
investment by June 2011.
“Government will
work with South African
development finance
institutions and stateowned
enterprises to
address backlogs in
regional logistics, water and
electricity infrastructure,”
he said.
