MARINE DUTIES at the port of Durban will continue to be undertaken by helicopter despite its aircraft being taken out of service for the next 10 to 12 weeks. The Durban helicopter was withdrawn last Thursday (May 8). The withdrawal is to enable the chopper to undergo its regular service – the high number of flying hours required at Durban means that the helicopter’s compulsory service comes round much faster than its sister aircraft at Richards Bay. NPA Marine Services at Richards Bay announced last week that its helicopter would operate from Durban for the next 10 to 12 weeks but would continue to provide a 2 4- hour service to both ports.
