Rates management system to be launched

Gaining market
share in a highly
commoditised
industry is all
about value-adds, in the view
of CFR airfreight general
manager Stephen Bishop.
“It’s a way of integrating
ourselves into our clients’
business in order to stay
relevant – and it’s the
motivation behind the recent
launch of a new internal rates
management system headed
up by Megan Ekermans.
“We’ve launched the system
internally and will give our
clients access from July this
year. It’s part of a strong focus
on utilising technology and
integrating it as much as
possible into our environment
and that of our clients,” said
Bishop.
“System-driven
information and IT solutions
can take the ‘noise’ out of
our controllers’ work life
and allow them to focus
on moving cargo and
communicating with their
clients.”
Despite tough market
conditions, CFR has seen
growing demand for costeffective
airfreight solutions,
according to Bishop.
And keeping in touch
with global trends – along
with its network partner the
AirCargoGroup – has resulted
in the emergence of new
routes.
“South East Asia will
be the focal point for the
mid-portion of the year,
with China continuing to be
our main import origin,” he
said. “Our AirCargoGroup
network gives us a
strong base from
all the major
origins.”
