FROM APRIL 1 the radio beacon service at lighthouses along the coast will be terminated and replaced by a differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) later this year.
The DGPS will be capable of assisting the safe passage of all classes of vessels from cargo ships to cruise liners and fishing vessels.
