BREAKBULK SPECIALIST Pro Line has identified project cargo as a market of potential growth and newly appointed agent Bridge Marine will be focusing on this area as it rolls out its marketing strategy. Pro Line’s FESA service connects the East Coast of South America with the Far East and South Africa offering monthly sailings in both directions. “We will be aggressively marketing our project capabilities to forwarding companies as well as project managers. We’re also well placed to reposition empty containers and to carry transhipment cargo for other lines,” says Bridge Marine’s Andre Swanepoel. Dave Orchard is the Durban-based line manager while Swanepoel, who has extensive experience in the breakbulk market, will look after the line in Gauteng. “We’re very flexible, operating geared tweendeckers, and while our main drive is breakbulk cargo, containers will also be considered.” Bridge Marine currently holds the agency for Malaysian International Shipping Company and is on a strong drive to extend its portfolio, Swanepoel said. Pro Line head office told FTW that its parting from previous agent Mediterranean Shipping Company had been an amicable one, and that the company had played an important role in the growth of Pro Line’s profile in the South African market.
