P&O NEDLLOYD will add a weekly direct service from Port Elizabeth to Singapore, Hong Kong, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe, Pusan and Keelung from early October, sailing from the Eastern Cape port every Saturday.
"This change in service will significantly improve our coverage to Asia from a growing Eastern Cape market," says Ann Durant, branch manager of P&O Nedlloyd Port Elizabeth. "Significantly, as the service will sail from Port Elizabeth, transit times are reduced to 11 days from PE to Singapore and 15 days to Hong Kong. This provides the fastest product from the Eastern Cape into Asia and should provide significant benefit to exporters in reducing lead-time to their customers.
"The growing reefer export trade from Port Elizabeth will benefit substantially from this change. It will provide an improved link for exporters who can avoid moving fruit via Cape Town or Durban in order to connect with services providing quicker transit times."
