Companies are gradually returning to full-capacity operations in Gauteng with level 1 lockdown now in place.According to Michael Henning, sales manager at Easyclear, returning to a semblance of “normality” and generating business following the decimation of various industries due to Covid-19 remains one of the biggest challenges in the market.

He said at Easyclear the company was operating back at its full capacity and in office. “This pandemic has demonstrated the importance of a resilient staff – and in particular the importance of software capabilities that provide both access to software and service to clients.”He said while most service providers in the industry had not necessarily been as hard hit as those businesses affected by volume drops and a slow world economy, recovery all round would be slow.

“During the past few months, we found that solutions such as S.a.a.S gained popularity, given that it is web-based and therefore accessible from anywhere the user has an internet connection.”

Henning said adaptability remained important. “Our reports have been converted to provide both static or PDF-type reports and a more versatile dashboard-type report for the users in the new operating environment.”He told Freight News that versatility and agility, coupled with the ability to adapt to market trends and provide a solution that enabled trade to work more efficiently and remotely, would be defining factors going forward.

“This will provide the opportunity to service providers in today’s market where trade volumes are down and everyone is trying to optimise efficiencies and save costs.” He said there was a lot of optimism about a recovery – especially in light of air and road freight volumes starting to pick up.
