DIFFERENT PACKING options and their relative savings in landside costs will form part of the study. The two different options were containerised shipping, and break bulk transport of cargo from the source to the Port of Maputo - where the cargo would be packed into containers. Meantime, figures are to be compiled for the projected potential container volumes of the corridor, and an individual focus on the volumes of the automotive role players interested in using the corridor. This information will be supplied in the format: commodity, volume, point of origin and destination. Based on the volumes provided and through the use of the score model, cost quotations will be compiled. The potential long-term routes being focused on are: • The Far East – selected as the main priority; • Other important routes - such as those up to the east coast of Africa; and • The Middle East – which can be served through feeder services.
Packing options will be investigated
