ONE adds Walvis Bay Service

Japanese line Ocean Network Service (ONE) has established a Walvis Bay presence through the appointment of Manica Group Namibia as representative, and Ocean Liner Services (OLS) as ships agency. Containers are at present being transhipped through Cape Town, but with the opening of the new terminal it is hoped that there will be sufficient volumes to induce direct calls, says Patrick
Kohlstädt, general manager of OLS. ONE provides a transit time of 20 days to Rotterdam from Walvis Bay, and less than 30 days to Singapore, he says. The line sails direct from Cape Town to Algeciras, and then to Rotterdam and Bremerhaven on the north-bound route to Europe. South-bound it calls on London Gateway, Rotterdam, Algeciras and Cape Town.
East-bound the route is direct to Port Kelang, then Singapore, Kaohsiung, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Shekou, Port Kelang, Durban, Cape Town. The routing allows OLS to offer a dedicated shipping line service which connects with most ports around the world, according to Kohlstädt.
