Beira Logistics Terminals (BLT) is opening a 1 870- sqm warehouse dedicated to the management of high value minerals being shipped through the port of Beira.
It will be able to store up to 10 000 tons of minerals such as copper, cobalt and other high-value minerals says Jonathan Middleton, CEO – warehousing for J&J Built in the BLT complex in Beira, the new warehouse will have dedicated work stations and will have 24-hour a day camera surveillance. Human error during the packing and unpacking process is being minimised through the use of an electronic management system that can be monitored by clients.
One of the security measures being integrated into BLT’s management system is that the system verifies that the net weight of the cargo offloaded into the minerals shed which is obtained via platform scales in the warehouse, is within a customer-defined tolerance with the net weight of the cargo obtained from BLT’s weighbridge.
This ensures that the customer receives the most accurate weights which is critical when handling high-value minerals.
