New US regulation affects citrus exports

The new US administration has put out a circular freezing all regulatory procedures, according to information released by the Citrus Growers’ Association.

No new regulations can be sent to the Office of the Federal Registry (except in certain circumstances), unpublished regulations need to be withdrawn, and those that have not taken effect are to have a 60-day postponement.

“This decision has meant that the lemon access from regions in Argentina are put on hold. All work done on the wider access for South African citrus into the USA will be similarly affected,” according to the CGA.
