Holistic approach adds extra dimension

REGAL CONSTANTIA Recruiting has added a specialist freight industry division to its portfolio and appointed well known industry personality Vanessa de Villiers to head up the unit.
It's in line with company policy to appoint consultants who either have the academic qualifications or work experience which equip them with an understanding of the client's environment, market and culture, managing director Steve Bird told FTW.
But more than that the company believes in taking a holistic approach which goes beyond recruiting.
Regal Constantia Ltd was set up in March this year when Constantia Recruiting Services and Regal Treasury Private Bank recognised an opportunity to deliver a holistic approach to value added services for clients, said Bird
By combining forces we are now able to provide a full spectrum of services such as pension funds, medical aids, finance and investments.
Our policy in the recruitment field has always been specialist rather than generalist. We identified that the shipping industry was in a growth phase and saw it as a niche market which would complement our other specialist divisions in the financial services and information technology arenas.
Vanessa de Villiers was head-hunted for the position, having notched up 12 years experience in the shipping industry ranging from export manager in a clearing and forwarding company, to line manager, owner's representative and more recently owner of her own ship's agency business.
The company has set its sights on national expansion. Cape Town and Durban have been identified as key areas for the shipping industry and offices are due to open there shortly.
