New product provides integrated airfreight solutions

Interest in cloud and web-based technology continues to take centre stage in the freight industry with the focus on providing real-time tracking of freight and business intelligence, says Michael Henning, general manager of freight systems bureau EASYCLEAR. In line with this focus, the company has introduced a web-based tracking and document portal coupled with a management dashboard providing live business intelligence reports and information in real time, he told FTW. And in a move that Henning believes will take the company to the next level, it has entered into an agreement with Luxembourgheadquartered CHAMP CargoSystems. This will see EASYCLEAR distributing and re-selling the CHAMP CargoSystems Logitude product which offers solutions to the air cargo industry, and in particular SME freight forwarders, said Henning. “It provides them with an integrated logistics solution that currently enables data sharing with supply chain partners, e-AWB and e-HAWB capture and transmission, status update messages, shipping instructions, pre-alerts, billing and accounting tools. E-schedules and e-availability or e-booking will shortly be added to the list of applications. “Coupled with EASYCLEAR’s customs clearing solutions, this relationship provides clients with direct access to over 200 airlines and GSAs and connects these with some 3000 or more forwarders and GHAs in a global community,” said Henning. “The Logitude and EASYCLEAR solution will be integrated, allowing for the seamless sharing of data across platforms with immediate shipment and message history alerts and track and trace. The benefit to freight forwarders is that we can cover the complete freight forwarding lifecycle at an affordable cost to business.” According to Henning, the agreement with CHAMP provides an opportunity for growth both locally and in sub-Saharan Africa.
