CONFIDENT OF continued annual growth in overborder cargo out of Durban, Image Freight & Logistics has geared up with new premises complete with additional bonded and free warehousing and mechanical vehicle maintenance on site.
Having recorded average growth of 12% per annum in past years, the company has channelled much of its profit into its own infrastructure and fleet to meet the needs of clients using the port for imports and exports, according to owner Anthony Sivalingam now based at its head office in Seaview.
“We have to replace, expand and refurbish our internal transport capacity to meet the changing needs of the market which requires significant capital injection as traffic volumes drive us to greater growth,” he explains.
The company owns 12 truck configurations at present, including two edible oil tankers with heating facilities on board, and has partnership arrangements with transporters in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia, effectively giving it access to over 150 flatbed rigs at any given time. It also offers a harbour carrier service covering a 50 to 100 kilometre radius for container delivery and collection in Durban.
Gradually Image Freight has consolidated many services under one roof. It also offers cross border customs clearing and forwarding services through a subsidiary, Shilo Freight and Logistics.
