New overnight delivery service fills a niche

Not competing with couriers

A PROFESSIONAL overnight delivery service at competitive prices was what motivated the recent establishment of LCL (less than container load) consolidators, Genloads, a 50-50 joint-venture between linehaul trucking company, Genfreight, and LCL specialists, Landloads.
A large number of trucking companies have disappeared from the scene in the last eighteen months, said Vivian Elsley, director of Genloads. This left a huge gap, especially in the LCL delivery service area.
The service does not compete with the more expensive overnight courier services, he added, not handling small parcels, nor working to exact time deadlines.
Individual consignments are collected/delivered with an appropriate five, seven or eight ton vehicle, with the consolidations carried by the linehaul vehicles on the Johannesburg-Durban route. Minimum charge on the pricing scale is for one ton (1000 kilograms) or two cubic metres, and only general cargo is accepted.
