New Namibia airport attracts freight interest

AIR NAMIBIA is keenly eyeing the planned new airport at Outapi as a possible freight facility. Two sites have been identified for the construction of the airport and schedules will be drawn up once the Namibian government officials have consulted with the local community on the preferred site. The planned new airfield is located in the province of Omusati in the northern region of Namibia where the existing airstrip at Okahao is to be upgraded to full airport status. The government will fund both projects. Growing trade in the northern sector and an increase in overborder transport services into Angola have motivated the move.
