A NEW Far East-West Africa service is to be launched on July 15 in a joint venture between Maruba, Hapag-Lloyd and CSCL – also including a call at Durban in both directions. The service, WSX, is to serve the growing market between Asia, South and West Africa, according to information released to FTW by Hapag Lloyd. In mid-July the three carriers will launch a fortnightly service connecting Asia to South Africa, Ghana, Togo and Nigeria on the following rotation: Shanghai-Ningbo- Xiamen-Shekou-Port Kelang-Durban-Tema- Lome-Lagos-Durban-Port Kelang-Shanghai. It will be operated by a fleet of five ships of 2 100-2 500 teu capacity.
