New drive woos African visitors to local expos

A MARKETING drive to attract southern African visitors to local exhibitions is underway. Reed Exhibitions has appointed International Trade Projects (ITP) to manage the visitor promotion campaign which will involve extensive direct mailing and contact with potential companies and organisations on the continent. The campaign will include the development and marketing of preferential travel packages. Reed organises a range of trade exhibitions, all held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Securex and Hostex will launch this year’s programme, both scheduled for March. In 2001, 18% of South Africa’s total exports were destined for Africa. In value terms this represents a seven fold increase since 1991, according to ITP’s managing director David Graham.
