New deal paves the way for women in global trade

A NEW initiative to draw women into the import/export arena has been launched. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Johannesburg and the UN-mandated organisation Access for African Businesswomen in International Trade, have joined forces to host a series of workshops covering key aspects of international trade. “It is important to have all the information pertaining to your costs above and beyond the cost of your product including factory in the calculation of your export price,” says course facilitator Linda Holtes. “This will ensure that you have adequately covered all your expenses.” The programme has already been piloted in Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana and Ethiopia.
