OR Tambo International in Johannesburg is expected to handle more than 200 tonnes of cargo per week as specialist freight operator Network Airline Management (NAM) introduces a new freight flight from its European hub in Liege, Belgium.
The Boeing B747F is scheduled to make two stops a week in Johannesburg, and according to Neil Ledingham, customer service manager at the London Gatwick HQ, routes like these offer new markets to their clients.
“This new routing could potentially see more than 200 tonnes of cargo transported every week,” said Ledingham.
In addition to air freight, NAM offers its clients road feeder services within South Africa and numerous neighbouring countries such as Botswana, Namibia and Zambia, with more new destinations set to come.
