Musina weighbridge officially launched

The Department of Transport Director-General George Mahlalela will officially launch the Musina Weighbridge as part of the October-Transport Month Campaign today (Tuesday 19 October). Mahlalela will be joined by Limpopo MEC for Roads and Transport, Pinky Kekana, Chief Executive Officers of Transport entities such as the South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL), the Cross Border Road Transport Agency (CBRTA), the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) and senior government officials from Limpopo and other provinces at the weighbridge in Musina. According to a spokesman for the Department of Transport the weighbridge will play a significant role seeing that large volumes of heavy vehicles come through the Beitbridge border post between South Africa and Zimbabwe, which is situated close to the town of Musina in the Limpopo province. “A traffic control centre in the area will further assist with traffic law enforcement activities including monitoring of overloading as well as the roadworthiness of vehicles using this corridor,” said the spokesman.
