Mediterranean Shipping Company’s airfreight wing has been awarded the necessary certification for pharmaceutical cargo.

The Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics’ CEIV Pharma verification is used by companies to demonstrate that their required operations meet the standards set by the International Air Transport Association.

CEIV Pharma ensures that the handling of guidelines for the storage and transportation of pharmaceutical products is adhered to.

MSC Air Cargo head of product, quality and transformation, Joern Roehl said: “The certification highlights our commitment to quality and to our dedication to continuously challenging the status quo, enhancing our quality standards, and our reliability as a trusted partner in pharmaceutical logistics.”

The airline said the certification came as temperature-controlled shipments continued to grow in significance within the air cargo market and that the demands on those responsible for transporting pharmaceuticals had increased.

MSC Air Cargo pharma specialist Juan Devarez added: “For us, this is another important milestone in ensuring we deliver our customers’ freight as promised, all while maintaining the highest standards in pharmaceutical logistics.”
