Mozambique ups its bandwidth

The Mozambique government has signed a 20-year connectivity agreement with Seacom in order to support education and other government projects, including putting trade and customs documentation on-line. Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr Evaristo Baquete, says in a statement that affordable and high-quality data networks are seen by his government as a vital tool in achieving the country’s developmental goals. The agreement will provide bandwidth to the Mozambique Research and Education Network (MoRENet) and the Government electronic Network (GovNet).
