The SA vehicle industry is heading for a record export total this year, according to the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA (Naamsa).
Although what it described as the “special circumstances” related to Ford going through a model run out, model run programme as it updated its Ranger range of vehicles contributed to the relatively low industry export numbers for November.
But Naamsa is confident that industry vehicle exports are expected to show a strong recovery over the next few months. Added to that, 2015 industry vehicle exports would be at a record level.
Industry exports of 28 112 units during November was an improvement of a slim 0.2% compared to the 28 046 export sales in November, 2014. But vehicle exports for 2015 should reach hit that record of about 340 000 units – compared to 276 873 last year.
