Two more mobile harbour cranes have been acquired by the Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) in order to meet the demand for the handling of bulk exports.
The first is due to be operational before the end of the year, and the second in six months, according to the MPDC’s Soraia Abdula. In addition, the MPDC has added 14 payloaders to its fleet and two rail excavators. Quayside efficiencies are being improved by demolishing disused warehouses in order to free up more space.
“We are continuing with our berth rehabilitation. This will be a very different port in a few months’ time,” she says.
