The distribution sector has undergone a significant transformation, with more than 70% of logistics companies now incorporating mobile apps into their daily operations. Renko Bergh, founder of CtrlFleet, notes the critical role of this technological shift. "Mobile apps have become essential in modern distribution. Their ability to provide real-time tracking and enhance communication has completely reshaped how goods are delivered."Research shows that approximately 85% of logistics and distribution companies have reported improved customer satisfaction after implementing mobile apps. Global giants like FedEx, C H Robinson and Alibaba have embraced these tools to offer customers greater control and visibility over their shipments. "The days of waiting anxiously for deliveries with no clear estimated time of arrival are gone. Now, customers can track their goods in real time, giving them confidence and certainty in the process," said Bergh. This increased transparency not only enhances customer satisfaction but also empowers businesses to handle exceptions and delays proactively. "In distribution, time is critical. Mobile apps allow businesses to address disruptions quickly and efficiently, improving both customer service and operational performance," he told Freight News.As mobile technology continues to evolve, its role in distribution will remain at the forefront of innovation. From optimising supply chains and streamlining operations to reducing costs and driving efficiencies, mobile apps are redefining how goods move through the supply chain. "By leveraging mobile apps, distribution companies can navigate complex challenges, seize new opportunities and deliver exceptional value both to customers and their bottom line," said Bergh, indicating that these apps would continue to drive progress in the distribution sector for years to come.
