Container volumes out of
Lesotho are on the increase,
according to Gerhard van
Zyl, operations director for
Professional Risk and Asset
Management.
And with the country
poised to become a leading
manufacturing hub in
southern Africa, control
remains crucial to an
effective supply chain.
“Without control at each
of the touch points there
are a number of things that
can go wrong when you’re
talking about sustained,
effective trade,” said Van Zyl.
The company has been
working closely with several
manufacturers in Lesotho
addressing risk concerns
around the movement of
exports.
“Our approach is to create
systems that mitigate risk
by integrating the touch
points into a manageable
platform,” he explained.
He said when moving
containers out of Lesotho
there was continued emphasis
on ensuring Customs-Trade
Partnership against Terrorism
(CTPAT) compliance at all
levels as it minimised risk
significantly, ensuring that
compliance was a top priority.
“Risk is really the last big
problem faced in the Lesotho
market. Implementing
successful solutions will have a
major impact on the country’s
manufacturing sector”.
