Yesterday (March 5) marked a milestone for Maersk Line in Namibia. It was the 12th anniversary of the first call at Walvis Bay by a Maersk Line vessel – the Cornelia Maersk. On October 1 of the same year Maersk Namibia was established and appointed as general agent for the AP Moller-Maersk Group. A year later the first branch office in Luderitz was opened. In another milestone for the line, the first ever Namibian managing director, Dries Oberholzer, has been appointed to take over from previous incumbent Ingrid Uppelschoten- Snelderwaard.
