The global shipping muscleman, Maersk Line, is the mega-buyer of mega containerships.
If the latest press reports are anything to go by it has up to 37 orders for ships fitting the megaship class.
Those are the latest-rumoured 16 x 14 000 TEU reportedly ordered with South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for a total of the equivalent of R24.8 billion.
That also joins an order for 11 ships of 19 000 TEU capacity, and 10 of 20 000 TEUs.
A total of 603 000 TEU extra slot capacity taking to the seas.
