Massive drug bust at Maydon Wharf

TERRY HUTSON THE BIGGEST ever Mandrax bust was made in Durban harbour last week when members of the Scorpions seized a container holding an estimated 6 tons of the drug in powdered form. The illegal Mandrax was smuggled into South Africa in a container from the Far East which ostensibly carried drums of paint powder. After police opened the container at Maydon Wharf, about one quarter of the drums was found to contain not paint but Mandrax powder. The value of the seized drugs is estimated at R750 million, making this the most expensive Mandrax haul ever in South Africa.
